Peter Woollacott
Co-founder and CEO

Peter is the CEO and driving force behind Tier-3. He co-founded the company in 1999 to fulfil a growing demand for cost-effective security management technology. Peter guides development of Huntsman® technology, to ensure it continues to meet the competing operational and security demands of the modern enterprise.
Peter’s strategic perspective and knowledge of operational and risk management come from 25 years’ experience: 15 in senior management with Lend Lease and 10 as a strategic consultant to major corporations including CBA, AXA, EDS, as well as PWC and Bain International.
Peter is alert to industry surveys that show that, despite high levels of spending in IT security, many enterprises continue to be dissatisfied with results. His response is straightforward: remove the noise that surrounds the industry and provide security solutions that deliver what they promise. He is still fired up by innovative security solutions that balance technology, accuracy and value, and deliver in even the toughest environments.
Peter holds a Bachelor of Building (Hons), a Post Graduate Diploma of Finance, Masters Degrees in Applied Finance and in Business Administration. He also lectures in executive post graduate education at Macquarie and Sydney Universities. Peter enjoys precious time with his family and still oversees operation of the family farm.
John Liefeld
Chief Architect

John leads the technical team for Tier-3 and is responsible for the Huntsman® technology, its design and development roadmap. He is a foundation member of the Tier-3 team.
John has over 25 years’ experience in systems architecture and software development, having lead major projects for Optus, Telstra and the Reserve Bank of Australia. In addition, he is a subject matter expert in database system development and data-warehousing. John’s experience has made a major impact on the design, functionality and ease of use of the Huntsman® technology, and he continues to respond to user experience and recommendations.
John feels that IT should be an enabler of business not a barrier to it and that more IT departments should be problem solvers rather than problem makers. He feels that the first IT response shouldn’t be how difficult it will be to fix a problem; it should be how to go about it.
Mairead Keaney
UK Country Manager

Mairead is responsible for managing sales, marketing and support in the UK and Europe, working directly with customers and via Tier-3’s channel partners.
Building on 25 years in senior management and IT roles with Vodafone, Optus and Lend Lease, Mairead’s particular skills in business building and development have been pivotal in converting Tier-3 from a start-up to an established regional office serving major government agencies. She has been highly effective in developing commercial relationships and partnerships and building the business infrastructure which have supported Tier-3’s sustained growth.
Mairead feels that security should be more like keeping fit than climbing Everest: once you’ve done the yards and achieved a certain level, it should be relatively easy to maintain. Like fitness, security is a moving target not a static achievement: you can’t take your eye off the ball; you need to keep alert and active.
Mairead holds a Masters in Engineering Science and her interests include travel, golf, tennis, cooking and theatre.
Eric Doherty
ANZ Sales Manager

Eric is responsible for managing Huntsman® sales, and recruiting and developing Tier-3's channel partners in Australia and New Zealand.
After 10 years in strategic sales, marketing and management roles with Fortinet, Sonnet Enterprise Services, Netstar and Honeywell, Eric joined Tier-3 in 2010. His experience in the public and private sectors where he built business through successful, mutually-beneficial partnerships, complements Tier-3 and its business objectives.
Eric feels that the vendor hyperbole attached to buying enterprise-grade security is unnecessarily confusing. He feels that the security environment is already ambiguous, complex and unpredictable; vendors need to make it easier for customers by using language that reflects reality and by providing smarter technologies that adapt to new challenges.
Eric holds qualifications in Engineering, Marketing and Management and is a keen sportsman, who skis, surfs and coaches Rugby Union.
